Meet the Four Paws Team

Our highly skilled and knowledgeable team want the best for your dog and even those that can be more challenging are given support to provide a service that suits you.

Fern
Pack Leader

Four Paws was born in 2009 with Fern as Pack Leader. Fern’s career background in marketing coupled with a lifetime of dogs, horses and all creatures great and small allowed Four Paws to grow to what you see today.

Fern enjoys training dogs in good behaviours and encouraging owners to do the same, especially in some of the breeds who have a poor reputation. Fable her Rottweiler is top dog at daycare and Waffle her Bullmastiff cross is the village idiot! They are both fabulous with other dogs and adore her three little girls, Bay, Sky and Doe.

The team at Four Paws has been handpicked by Fern and they bring a wealth of experience and knowledge. Being the first daycare centre to be licensed by the council, Four Paws sets the standard for others to achieve. Offering grooming, dog walking and even a pet taxi service Fern’s aim was to provide the highest standards of care for every dog and a service to suit the needs of dogs and owners.  We hope you love our setting as much as we do!

Annette
General Manager

Annette has always enjoyed an outdoor lifestyle with a passion for both dogs and horses. After leaving college she worked as Head Girl at an Equine Eventing Livery Stable for 10 years and then moved onto an indoor job working in a local saddlery but she missed being out in the fresh air!  Annette joined Four Paws in 2010 as the General Manager and she says it’s the best thing she ever did. Her love of animals and amazing organisational skills are perfect for the diversity of her role.

Her strong interest in canine behaviour has developed further since being at Four Paws and she now holds a Diploma in Canine Behaviour and Psychology and Veterinary Support Assistant Diploma to go with her other animal care qualifications. She has three dogs of her own, Pickle who is a Collie cross, Bonnie who is a Collie and Ruby who is a Springer Spaniel. Pickle came from Cheshire Dogs Home and both Bonnie and Ruby were from Dogs Trust Merseyside.  They are three very different characters but have all proven that every dog deserves a chance and they keep her thoroughly entertained!

Julie
Groom School Tutor

After years working in an office, Julie has had a brilliant career change into dog grooming and has now taken the reins as Four Paws full time Grooming Tutor.

Having been grooming dogs from her home (around her day job) Julie wanted to take the plunge and give up her desk to become a full time groomer. She came to Four Paws originally as a student, keen to brush up on her handstripping skills. However, it soon became apparent that her grooming skills were exceptional and she now holds a City & Guilds Level 3 grooming qualification. Known as Dr Doolittle locally her love of all animals great and small shines through.

When the Grooming Tutor vacancy became available only one name came to mind and Julie joined the team full time in March 2014.  She has a great understanding of the challenges groomers face outside of the classroom.

Having spent time reviewing the course syllabus she has added her expertise to each skill area, making learning at Four Paws better than ever.

Ryan
Daycare Assistant & Junior groomer

Ryan was delighted to get offered an apprentice position with Four Paws Pet Services in June 2013 as he has always wanted to work with animals.  Ryan shone in his interview and trial period as he is very polite and friendly, although he can be a little shy!  They dogs obviously adore him and he has a positive energy that they respect.  After completing his apprenticeship Ryan took a full time permanent position as Daycare Assistant and is now also our Junior Groomer. He can’t ever imagine returning to shop work after this!

Since joining Four Paws Ryan now has Freddie, a black Labrador that he has had from an 8 week old puppy. Ryan plans to complete the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme with Freddie and is also interested in taking him to some Gundog training courses.

Codie
Assistant Daycare Apprentice

After working with horses since Codie left school in 2011, she decided she wanted a career change and it was best to keep horses as a hobby. With having a passion for animals since she was little (and office work not being her thing!) she wanted to give working with dogs a shot!

Codie started off at a small kennels and after realising how much she loves being around the dogs and learning about them, she decided to continue in the doggy direction and find an apprenticeship. After searching and searching, she got an interview with Four Paws and is now working towards an Animal Care NVQ Level 2 qualification (which was worth the wait!)

Codie is happily settled and enjoys being around the dogs and taking in each and everyone’s personality. Since starting at Four Paws Codie now has Hugo, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier who she has had from a 7 week old puppy. Codie has completed a Kennel Club approved puppy course with Hugo and intends to continue through the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme.

Liz Evans
Apprentice Daycare Assistant

Liz finished school in 2013 and went to college to study Business Studies. After realising that college wasn’t the right choice for her she decided for a change in direction. Having a dog of her own called Daisy, who is a cross breed, she became more interested in dogs and their behaviour, and did some looking around for some work in a doggy environment and that’s when she found Four Paws!

Liz has settled into the Four Paws team well and is working towards the Animal Care NVQ Level 2 qualification and she says joining Four Paws is the best thing she has ever done and she is loving every second of it!

Sian Edwards
Groomer

Sian’s passion for dogs has had a huge impact on her chosen career path and in 2012 she trained and qualified as a dog groomer. Sian has three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Maisie, Marley and Millie (who are often seen sporting new styles and trends) but after working for herself for 2 years and gaining a wealth of experience, Sian decided to look for a job within a salon. Sian soon found what she has called her ‘perfect job’ here at Four Paws and joined the team in November 2014.

Since joining Four Paws and experiencing our daycare facility, Sian has developed a strong interest in canine behaviour. Sian is looking into furthering her qualifications in all aspects of canine care to keep Four Paws the number one choice for all of your doggie needs!

Manya Peacock
Apprentice Daycare Assistant

Manya has always wanted to work with animals. After finishing sixth form in 2014 there were not many animal care opportunities available. Luckily in August she contacted Four Paws and joined the team in May 2015.

Since joining Four Paws Manya has learnt a lot about caring for dogs which, is important to her because she also has 3 crossbreed's of her own.

Manya is working towards her Animal Care NVQ Level 2 qualification and is looking forward to a successful career with animals.
